When I first started Little Yellow Bird KC, it wasn’t about starting a business—it was about creating something that felt like home.
Growing up, my family owned a company called Bird Distributors. Its logo featured a cheerful little yellow singing bird which represented my family name and heritage, and that image has always stuck with me. It represented hard work, family, creativity, and pride in what you do. When I started crafting as an adult—first with stickers, then custom pet items, and eventually apparel—that same nostalgia came rushing back. It felt only right to bring that yellow bird to life again.
What began as a hobby to make the perfect personalized gift for my loved ones turned into something so much bigger. Today, Little Yellow Bird KC creates vintage-inspired felt appliqué sweatshirts, custom embroidered tees, and personalized gifts—each made with intention, detail, and a lot of love. My favorite part? Hearing the stories behind your orders: a sweatshirt celebrating a milestone, a keychain for a new pet, a tag for your kiddo’s backpack. Those small moments remind me why I do this.
Each piece is made to feel personal—because gifts should be as unique as the people who give and receive them. I like to think that every stitch carries a bit of heart, hope, and hometown spirit.
